Once you have used the smart door lock, you won’t want traditional door locks anymore. So if you are a geek like me, you won’t miss the convenience it brings. And the smart door lock is also an important part of smart home. Today I would like to share my latest review on Aqara N100 smart door lock. Let’s see how it fills all my demand.
Aqara starts with the concept of ‘whole house intelligence’. According to the official website description, Aqara is actually a manufacturer that is very friendly to Apple HomeKit. Aqara has more than 40 products that support HomeKit. And Aqara has had many overseas markets, mainly providing more cost-effective HomeKit authorized accessories.
You can see from the professional adaptation of Apple HomeKit, Aqare targets at high-end markets. Therefore, as a part of Xiaomi Mijia, it is not surprising that Aqara supports both AppleHomeKit and Mijia.
The packaging design of Aqara N100 is very simple just like other Mijia products. A sketch of the lock body shows the appearance and features of Aqara N100, such as opening methods, C-level lock cores, remote alarm, and smart integration with Mijia APP.
The first layer of the box is the size opening identification paper. You can check the opening position and installation position when you install it by yourself. So you don’t need to worry about installation problems.
The inner panel has a protective film with detailed identification and APP QR code. It is really convenient for the first installation of the APP. Basically there is no learning cost for those who have used smart door locks like me. Even for newbies to smart door locks, it is still very simple to learn. And you just need to pay attention to the emergency power supply Type-c interface at the bottom.
At present, most emergency power supply interfaces of smart door locks are micro-USB, so it is really good to see Type-c interface on Aqara N100. So if the battery of lock drained, you can easily charge it.
The lower part of the panel is the lock body and the accessory box.
The lock body of Aqara N100 is a high-end electronic lock body. From this 4pin power supply line, it can be seen that the lock body integrates more functions.
The advantage of the electronic lock body is that it can monitor the current state of the lock and feed it back to the IoT platform to monitor the locked/unlocked/ unlocked state of the door.
The locking tongue is very special. In addition to the conventional oblique tongue, square tongue, and anti-locking tongue, there is also a corner tongue.
Each lock tongue can be independently monitored to feedback the various states of the door lock. While the corner tongue can monitor the state of the door’s cover. False state monitoring is also experience improvement.
The lower layer is a C-level lock core and a key. The lock body is a C-level lock dedicated to smart door locks, which is not universal with ordinary door locks. Of course, the C-level lock is more secure than normal locks.
Aqara N100 comes with 8 batteries. However, actually the lock only needs 4 batteries to work. With 4 batteries, it can be used for 18 months.
Packing content: front and rear panels, lock body, battery, lock core, accessories.
It is a pity that Aqara N100 does not come with an NFC card. In my experience, most users are more likely to use NFC cards. Because the fingerprint sensor can not read our fingerprints in some special situations like wet and dusty situations.
However, Aqara N100 supports NFC unlock. So you can use a smartphone with an NFC chip to configure it. After all NFC card is easy to get lost.
The inner panel has an anti-unlock structure to prevent unlock from the peephole. To unlock without key when you have a problem with the lock, you need to turn the handle while pressing the button.
There is a QR code for you to download the App for Aqara N100.
The handle has a matte design, which can effectively prevent fingerprints.
Aqara Smart Door Lock N100 uses a better 3D semiconductor, which can effectively prevent 2D fingerprint unlocking. And it is said the fingerprint sensor of Aqara N100 only takes 300ms to identify the fingerprint. And the success ratio is 98.7%.
