Processor, memory, technology

In virtually all comparisons, we look together under the hood of the products being compared – and in this case it will be no different. If you decide to buy a new 4th generation iPad Air (below only as iPad Air), you can look forward to the A14 Bionic processor, which is currently the latest and most modern apple processor. The iPad Air is equipped with it as the very first apple device, in addition to which it also beats in the new "twelve iPhones". This processor offers a total of six compute cores, four cores then have a graphics accelerator, and the number of Neural Engine cores is sixteen. The maximum clock frequency of this processor is 3.1 GHz, which is definitely a respectable number. As for the 11 ″ iPad Pro 3rd generation (below only as iPad Pro), you can look forward to an older but still very powerful A12X processor, which has a total of eight computing cores, seven cores for the GPU and eight Neural Engine cores. The maximum clock speed for this processor is set at 2.49 GHz. Both apple tablets offer a USB-C connector and a Smart Connector.

In terms of RAM, the newer iPad Air has 4 GB, just like the iPad Pro. The difference is then evident in the biometric protection. While the iPad Air offers a brand new Touch ID, which is built into the power button and which is based on fingerprint scanning, the iPad Pro then has Face ID protection, which is based on advanced face scanning. For Touch ID, Apple reports an error rate for one in fifty thousand individuals, and for Face ID, the error rate is for one person in one million. None of the compared iPads can be expanded with an SD card. Depending on whether you buy the Celluar version or not, you can then use nanoSIM and eSIM. Both iPads then offer Magic Keyboard or Smart Keyboard Folio support and also support the 2nd generation Apple Pencil. The iPad Pro then has a better sound system – specifically, it boasts four speakers, while the iPad Air offers only two speakers.

Batteries and charging

The iPad Air most likely has 28.6 Wh batteries, the iPad Pro then 29.37 Wh batteries. If we look at the endurance of both apple tablets, we will find that they are in a similar situation. To be specific, Apple states in both iPads it compares that it lasts up to 10 hours of web browsing on a Wi-Fi network or watching video, and then lasts 9 hours when browsing the web on a mobile data network. It should be noted that none of these iPads is affected by the absence of power adapters, specifically you will find a 20W adapter in the package, together with a USB-C cable. The headphones are not included. Of course, none of the apple tablets can be charged wirelessly, reverse charging is also not available.
