Honor unveils the Kirin 985: features and performance on AI Benchmark
Through a post on Weibo, the Honor executive said that after the Kirin 990 and 820 (the latter recently launched aboard the 30S model), the Asian company will launch yet another unpublished chipset. The name of the new solution is Kirin 985 and once again it seems that Huawei and Honor have hit the mark. In fact, the SoC has positioned itself in third place in the AI Benchmark ranking, followed by the Kirin 820 and 990. In the first position we find the 990 5G, followed by the MediaTek Dimensity 1000. In short, the brand's NPUs strike fully and the VP jokes (not much) on the fact that 4 of the 5 "smartest" chips in the world belong to the Chinese house.
With regard to the characteristics of the new SoC, it will be an octa-core solution consisting of:: 1 x 2.58 GHz Cortex-A76 + 3 x 2.4 GHz Cortex-A76 + 4 x 1.84 GHz Cortex-A55. Also on board is a dual-core NPV DaVinci. The specifications are similar to those of the previous 820, but slightly improved.
Probably the SoC will find space on board the Honor 30 while for the Pro model it seems to be present – at least based on what can be seen from the specifications of the TENAA – the Kirin 990 5G.
