Huawei Honor Band 5 review-your best health tracker
The competition in the smartwear market is increasingly fierce. No doubt Huawei Honor smartband is one of the survivors. In 2018, Huawei Honor band 4 has already had a good reputation and a large number of users. So will Huawei Honor Band 4 be even more successful? Let’s check out our Huawei Honor Band 5 review.
Honor band 5 continues the excellent design of Honor band 4, big Amoled screen+touch control ring. The screen is 0.95 inches in size with a resolution of 240 x 120 and a PPI of 282. The display is very clear because of the high PPI. The new UI design brings more stunning visual impact to users. The default brightness is very enough for most usage scenarios. And the brightness can be adjusted at will when under strong sunlight. In addition, you are able to change the wristband of Honor Band 5.
Honor band 5 supports screen touch control and Home button control. The touch screen supports clicks and swipes, and the slides and clicks are very smooth. Through Home button, you can return to the main interface on any interface. The interaction is relatively simple and easy to use.
The wristband of Honor Band 5 is made of soft, skin-friendly silicone and has good elasticity. The joint between the dial and the wristband has a curve design, which is comfortable to wear. The wristbands on both sides are detachable. And it is very convenient to remove the wristbands by opening the quick-release plug.
Honor band 5 backside has a heart rate sensor, 2 pin metal contact charging interface, etc. You just need to put the band on the charger to charge it. The charger has a Micro USB port, not a Type-C port. It is a pity.
According to the official data, the battery life of Honor Band 5 is 14 days(Sleep tracker off, heartrate sensor off, gesture control off). With all the functions on, the battery life is around 6 days. But we do not have enough time to test how the real battery life is in actual use.
Honor Band 5 also supports heart rate monitoring, blood oxygen saturation detection, and scientific sleep. The special features make it a more complete health monitoring system. Among them, the blood oxygen detection function is a new function, which is also unique among the smartbands.
2. Blood Oxygen saturation detection
In my impression, the oxygen saturation detection appears on a smartband for the first time. Previously, the most common detection method on the market was the use of finger-type electro-optic sensors for monitoring. This kind of equipment was expensive. The new blood oxygen detection function of Honor Band 5 is undoubtedly meeting the needs of more people to check blood oxygen daily.
So what is the oxygen saturation we have been talking about? Simply speaking, oxygen saturation refers to the ratio of the volume of oxygen and hemoglobin binding in the blood to the total hemoglobin capacity, which is an important physiological parameter of the respiratory cycle. Oxygen saturation can reflect the oxygen supply of the human body. The oxygen saturation of healthy people is generally between 95-100. When the oxygen saturation is 80-85, the visual and cognitive ability will change. You will be in danger when your blood oxygen saturation is around 75.
3. 24 hours real-time heartrate monitoring
Honor Band 5 uses the self-developed Huawei TruSeen 3.5 heart rate technology to provide more accurate heart rate monitoring. If you activate 24 hours real-time heartrate sensor, the detailed data will be recorded automatically. Users can view the heart rate record on the APP and display it in the form of a chart, which is intuitive and convenient. In the 24 hour real-time heart rate monitoring mode, the user can also turn on the continuous heart rate warning function.
4. Advanced sleep tracker
Honor Band 5 has HUAWEI TruSleep sleep detection technology, which automatically recognizes the user’s sleep time. And it can record the user’s sleep state (including light sleep, deep sleep, REM rapid eye movement and awake).
5. More fashional dial faces
Different from the dial face Huawei Offered on Honor Band 4, this time Honor Band 5 has had 22 fashional dial faces. You can select the one you prefer in its App. Besides, customize dial faces will probably appear in the future just like on Xiaomi Band 4.
The birth of smartwears starts from the sports field, and smartband has become one of the most popular smartwears. After a few years of rapid development, more and more people have accepted smartbands and use them in daily lives. This time, Honor Band 5 brings us a completely new feature- blood oxygen saturation detection. This new feature will definitely change some of our bad habits and make us better health.
