Many devices in Samsung’s Galaxy A series approved with Android 10
Samsung seems to be slowly but surely ready for the next wave of Android 10 updates. In recent days, quite a few devices in the A-series have been certified with the new software, at least: devices that we know will be upgraded.
Galaxy A series ready for Android 10
Now that Samsung has provided all of the top models from 2018 and 2019 – with the exception of the Galaxy Fold – with Android 10, it is time to look further. And then the devices from the A series quickly appear. And guess what? Almost all devices that will receive the upgrade are now ready for it.
Recently, the Wi-Fi Alliance (WFA) has approved almost all models with Android 10 on board. Think of the Galaxy A40 (PDF), the Galaxy A50 (PDF), the Galaxy A70 (PDF) and the Galaxy A80 (PDF). Even the Galaxy A10 (PDF) and the Galaxy A20e (PDF) were certified. Moreover, the Galaxy A7 (2018) also obtained certification (PDF) with the new software.
At present, only the Galaxy A30S, A6 and A9 are not yet approved with Android 10. However, there is a good chance that these devices will also appear at the WFA in the course of the coming days. Once that has happened, all devices in Samsung's A-series that receive the upgrade are more or less ready for the rollout.
According to Samsung's own schedule, the above-mentioned phones will be updated in the course of the coming months. They also get the new One UI 2.0 interface, which we now know all too well from, for example, the Galaxy S10. As a reminder, the expected schedule:
in March: Galaxy A80
in April: Galaxy A40, A70, A6 (Plus) and A7
in May: Galaxy A10, A20e, A30s, A50, and A9
The big absence here is of course the Galaxy A8. Of course, we have known for a long time that he will not get the upgrade, as well as the Galaxy S8 and Note 8. After all, they have already had two major Android upgrades.
The Galaxy Tab S6 too
Incidentally, the first Samsung tablet that will get the upgrade – the Tab S6 – this week also certified with Android 10 (PDF). The upgrade for this device is expected from around April.
Despite all this, do not expect the Android 10 update for the devices mentioned to start in the very short term. But it is clear that they are a big step closer to the start of the rollout.
