OnePlus 8 vs OnePlus 8 Pro: what are the differences?

Design & Display

Obviously the first aspect that changes is the size. OnePlus 8 will be slightly more compact, having a 6.55 ″ display, while that of OP8 Pro will be from 6.78 ″. As you can see, the OP8 panel will be flatter and with slightly more accentuated edges, although on both there will be a perforated panel to host the 16 MP selfie camera. An imperceptible difference is found in the hole, 3.84 mm wide on the Pro and 3.95 mm on the base.

Dimensionally speaking, OP8 should measure 160.2 x 72.9 x 8.1 mm for 178 g, while OP8 Pro would increase to 165.3 x 74.4 x 8.8 mm for 198 g.

The other main difference lies in the technology adopted. Let's start by saying that both will be Fluid AMOLED screens with HDR10 + support and sensor for unlocking positioned below. But the refresh rate will not be the same, since OnePlus 8 will be "only" 90 Hz in Full HD +. The Pro will be more advanced, going up to 120 Hz and with a Quad HD + resolution.

As expected, there will be no mini-jack input for wired headphone lovers. But multimedia support will not be missing, thanks to the presence of stereo speakers for a more satisfactory audio output. Note that OP8 Pro will be the only one, for the first time, to have IP68 certification.

From a more exquisitely technical point of view, even the colors will not be the same. In the case of OP8 the colorful Interstellar Glow will debut, as well as Glacial Green and Onyx Black.

Hardware

Needless to say, the OnePlus 8 series will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 865 platform. The chipset is at 7 nm, includes an octa-core Kryo 585 CPU up to 2.84 GHz and an Adreno 650 GPU. The chipset will also offer 5G support, available on all upcoming OnePlus home phones. The memory cuts could be the same for both, from 8/12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128/256 GB of UFS 3.0 storage without microSD expandability.

As for the battery, there are two distinct units, 4300 mAh and 4510 mAh. Both will present support for the 30W Warp Charge 30T, but only the Pro will also have wireless charging at 30W, even in reverse mode at 3W.

Camera

Collecting the information so far circulated, OnePlus 8 should have a triple 48 + 16 + 2 MP camera with primary aperture f / 1.8. The two additional sensors would be the wide angle and the one for the acquisition of depth, thus without telephoto lens.

The OP8 Pro sector will be much more refined, with a 48 + 48 + 8 + 5 MP quad camera f / 1.78-2.2-2.4. The Sony IMX689 primary will be supported by a wide angle Sony IMX586 with 120 ° FoV. The other will be a telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, while the fourth on the side will be a chromatic sensor dedicated to acquiring the colors of the image. Also present is the laser autofocus module, together with a double LED flash.

Price

We still have no precise information on the sale price. It is rumored that OnePlus 8 will compete with the main 5G phones without going beyond the $ 1000 threshold.
