Promotion of electric cars: purchase bonuses, environmental bonus & Co.

For purely electric vehicles with a purchase price of up to 40,000 euros, the federal government's environmental bonus is up to 6,000 euros, and for plug-in hybrids it is 4,500 euros. If the net price of a purely electric vehicle is over 40,000 euros, the environmental bonus is 5,000 euros. Is it a plug-in hybrid at 3,750 euros. (As of: 09/2021)

In detail, the following funding amounts apply, which can be applied for via BAFA and the environmental bonus is calculated as follows:

The environmental bonus for battery electric or fuel cell vehicles

The list shows the amount that users can get when purchasing an all-electric vehicle. The staggered funding applications for leasing are also broken down.

Federal share including innovation bonus if the net list price of the all-electric vehicle is below 40,000 euros

Federal share including innovation bonus if the net list price of the all-electric vehicle is over 40,000 euros

Note: The list shows the federal portion of the environmental bonus that has been doubled by the innovation bonus. In addition to the federal share, there is also the manufacturer share, which results in a higher amount of funding. For example, as the table shows, the subsidy for an electric car with a net list price of up to 40,000 euros is up to 6,000 euros. In addition, there is a manufacturer's share of 3,000 euros, which results in a final subsidy of up to 9,000 euros. If the list price is over 40,000 euros for a purely electric vehicle, users receive a manufacturer's share of 2,500 euros and thus a subsidy of up to 7,500 euros in addition to the federal government funding of 5,000 euros.

In summary, this means, for example:

Purchase price for a purely electric vehicle: less than 40,000 euros subsidy from the federal government: 6,000 euros subsidy manufacturer's share: 3,000 euros, total subsidy for electric car funding: 9,000 euros

Environmental bonus for externally chargeable hybrid electric vehicles

This is what BAFA's funding for plug-in hybrids looks like:

Federal share including innovation bonus if the net list price of the plug-in hybrid is less than 40,000 euros

Federal share including innovation bonus if the net list price of the plug-in hybrid is over 40,000 euros

Minimum holding period

purchase

3,750 euros

Leasing period 6 to 11 months

1,125 euros

937.50 euros

Lease term 12 to 23 months

2,250 euros

1,875 euros

Leasing term over 23 months

4,500 euros

3,750 euros

Note: In this table, too, a manufacturer's share must be added in addition to the federal share. The two parts add up to the maximum funding amount. For example, buyers of a plug-in hybrid that costs less than 40,000 euros receive a federal subsidy of up to 4,500 euros, as well as 2,250 euros from the manufacturer, which results in a subsidy of up to 6,750 euros. If the net list price for a plug-in hybrid is over 40,000 euros, the federal share is 3,750 euros and the manufacturer's share is 1,875 euros, which results in an electric car subsidy of up to 5,625 euros in this price class.
