QNAP Introduces QTS 4.4.2: Increases System Security and Supports Multiple Extensions
Press Release: QNAP® Systems, Inc. (QNAP) today announced the latest operating system for NAS – QTS 4.4.2. In addition to including a list of enhancements and enhancements from previous releases, QTS 4.4.2 increases system security and storage scalability. The default NAS password is changed to the first MAC address of the NAS for added security. The QNAP NAS also supports other new QNAP Expansion Units – the high-speed TL SATA JBOD series, which supports SATA 6Gb / s multiple transfer, and the convenient TL USB JBOD series with USB 3.2 Gen 2 10Gb / s. Starting today, QNAP NAS users will receive QTS 4.4.2.
While QTS 4.4.1 focuses on integrating cloud storage and cloud gateway services, QTS 4.4.2 enhances storage scalability with physical JBODs to meet file storage and backup needs. The new TL SATA JBOD and TL USB JBOD series not only work with QNAP NAS, but also support computers or servers with the accompanying QNAP JBOD Manager.
TL Series SATA JBOD
The TL SATA JBOD series includes desktop models (4-position TL-D400S, 8-position TL-D800S, 16-position TL-D1600S) and rack-mount models (4-position TL-R400S, 12-position TL-R1200S-RP) that support SAT data transfer 6Gb / s. The SATA JBOD series is designed to connect each SATA data directly to one SATA drive, dramatically increasing the expansion unit's performance to a high-speed, cost-effective storage expansion solution. The JBOD series is ready for use with the supplied QXP expansion cards and cables. The QXP expansion card can be installed in a PCIe QNAP NAS slot or a Windows / Linux (Ubuntu) PC to add multiple SATA 6Gbps and one SFF-8088 cable provides data rates of up to 24 Gbps (4 x SATA 6Gbps). The transfer rate between host and JBOD can reach up to 64 Gbps when using multiple cables.
TL USB JBOD series
The range includes the TL-D800C 8-bay desktop model and the TL-R1200C-RP 12-bay rack mount model that supports a SATA 6Gb / s drive and provides a USB 3.2 Gen 2 10Gb / s Type C port with file transfer speeds of up to 10 Gb / s. The USB JBOD series supports QNAP NAS or Windows, Mac, Linux (Ubuntu) computers. Users can use optional cables to use host devices with USB Type A / Type C or Thunderbolt 3 Type C connections.
