Samsung confirms: no less than five new Galaxy devices on August 5
In two weeks, Samsung will hold its next Unpacked event. In a rather unusual move, the company itself confirms that no fewer than five 'power devices' will be making an appearance.
Samsung Unpacked: Galaxy Note 20, Z Fold 2, and…
It was equally clear that Samsung will hold its next Unpacked event on August 5. It will be the first time that the South Koreans present their large-scale press event entirely virtually – for logical reasons. What is striking is the large number of new Galaxy devices that must be revealed on that.
In a blog post, it is the boss of Samsung's Mobile Communications Business Tae-moon Roh who already gives a glimpse of the veil. He writes that the company will launch five – in his words – "power devices". He is not referring to batteries, but to a number of phones – and more.
It is certain that Samsung will at least introduce the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. These two devices together form the next generation of Samsung's well-known Note series, and are therefore one of the "main acts" of the event. The Note 20 Ultra, in particular, should be very successful, with a camera that – like the Galaxy S20 Ultra – contains a 108-megapixel sensor and a periscope lens. In addition, the added laser autofocus should ensure even sharper images.

But there's more. In addition, the new Galaxy Z Fold 2 is also expected. That will be the successor of the first Galaxy Fold, which had a difficult launch in 2019, and eventually appeared on the Dutch market in early 2020. The Z Fold 2 will be reminiscent of the first Fold in design, but the screen on the outside is considerably larger. In terms of cameras, the device plays borrowed neighbor with the Galaxy S20. There is a chance that the device will actually come on the market after the summer, and not immediately in August.
Flip, Tab, Watch, Buds
Okay, that's three phones, not five. So there are two more "power devices" that we can officially get to know on August 5. The funny thing is: there are still five Galaxys that are in the pipeline, so apparently not all of them are present on that day.
First, there is the 5G variant of the already known Galaxy Z Flip, which is unlikely to come to the Netherlands. Samsung also plans two models of the Galaxy Tab S7 – the one with an 11-inch AMOLED display, and the Tab S7 + with a 12.4-inch screen diagonal.

But we are not there yet. Finally, we know that Samsung also wants to release the Galaxy Watch 3 – the next generation of its smart watch, so. And last but not least, there are also the Galaxy Buds Live, which previously leaked as the Beans. The ears get a completely new design and active noise reduction.
Which of the latter devices will and which will not be shown on August 5 is not yet completely clear. The Z Flip 5G may make an appearance earlier, but for the same money, Samsung is launching the new tablets, or Watch, or Buds, via a separate press release a few days before August 5.
For most phone enthusiasts, the new Note 20, Note 20 Ultra, and Z Fold 2 are the most interesting – although they are also three phones with hefty price tags.
