Samsung Galaxy A8 skips month, now gets update from February
Today a new update finally arrives on the Galaxy A8. For unknown reasons, Samsung skipped the January update for the device in its entirety – but those improvements are of course also included in the February patch.
Galaxy A8 update February 2020
The last update on the Galaxy A8 arrived more than two months ago, when the device received the December patch. Then it remained silent throughout January – until now, mid-February. Naturally, because of Valentine's Day, a new update will roll in.
An almost 300 MB download brings the Galaxy A8 to firmware version A530FXXSACTB2. As you can see from the "S" this is a security update. That is, apart from a new security patch, there are no functional improvements with the new update.
In any case, all fixes that are included in the January and February patches are installed. Together these are a total of 84 improvements for the Android OS itself, and 47 fixes from Samsung for the One UI interface and applications. These include enhancements to bootloader security, screen drivers, reactivation lock, and the Gallery app.
The new update is available on the Dutch unbranded Galaxy A8 and also on branded models from T-Mobile. Vodafone's A8 had indeed received the January update, but is not yet ready for the February patch. Do you have a Belgian A8? Then you just have to wait until it is ready for your device.
Furthermore, you probably know the update procedure: wait for the notification, or check directly via Settings -> Software update -> Download and install.
Have you discovered any more changes after installation?
