Samsung hints to One UI 3.0 beta for Galaxy S20
Samsung has announced that the public Android 11 and One UI 3.0 beta program for the Galaxy S20 will start soon. This is the program that is accessible to more people than the developer beta, but still not everywhere.
Samsung: One UI 3.0 beta for Galaxy S20 soon
Earlier this month, Google officially released Android 11. That was also the starting signal to slowly start looking forward to the public beta of Samsung for its top models of this year. The company is now announcing more on the Members forum in South Korea
A moderator posted this morning that One UI 3.0 – based on Android 11 of course – for the Galaxy S20 will now launch really soon. We are reportedly working hard on the latest optimizations for the stable version of the software.
An early version of the new software was previously available to developers on a small scale. This was not yet intended for a wider audience, but it already showed some of the expected changes. For example, the notification screen will be transparent, new widgets will be introduced for the Always On Display, and the Recycle Bin function will be further extended to the Messages app.
Specific to the Galaxy S20 are further improvements for the cameras and the camera app. Autofocus and automatic exposure in particular are improved in Android 11. Also check out the much longer list of innovations in One UI 3.0 and Android 11.
Where and when?
Samsung is now advertising the upcoming One UI 3.0 beta in South Korea. This is probably the first country where the program will start, more or less at the same time as the US. The first European countries will follow soon after. You should especially think of Germany, France or England, but unfortunately not of the Netherlands or Belgium. The Low Countries have never been part of Samsung's beta programs. There are no indications that this will happen this year.
The beta program will be a source of much more information about the major Android 11 upgrade. If everything goes like last year, this must then become available to everyone at the end of November, beginning of December. The exact timing depends on the course and duration of the beta test itself.
Samsung will also bring One UI 2.5 from the Note 20 to the Galaxy S20
