Samsung is changing plans for rolling out Android to Galaxy Fold, A80, Tab S6 and more
Samsung has updated its official update schedule for the Android 10 rollout. A number of devices – including the Galaxy Fold, Galaxy A80, Galaxy A7 and Tab S6 – will receive the update a little later than previously planned. A phone seems to get the upgrade earlier.
Samsung changes Android 10 plans: Fold, Tab S6 and A80 later
If you keep an eye on our Samsung Galaxy-and-the-Android-10 update overview, you have a good idea of when which phone will get the upgrade. That overview is partly based on Samsung's concrete activities, and partly on a schedule that the manufacturer published in its Samsung Members community. The latter schedule was adjusted earlier this week. Some phones unfortunately get the update later than expected.
Among other things, we see that the Galaxy Fold and A80 in our country get the update a month later – in May, to be precise. These aircraft were previously planned for April and March respectively. The 2018 Galaxy A7 and Galaxy A9 will receive the upgrade in May, while previously planned for April. In addition, the Galaxy J6 Plus also gets the update a month later, in July. The update for the Galaxy Tab S6 is also being moved from April to May. And then there is the Galaxy A6 Plus, which would actually only be updated in June. That device is now on the agenda in May, so it will get it a month earlier than expected. The Galaxy A40, which will receive the upgrade in April, received it earlier this week.
All changes at a glance:
Galaxy Fold – May 2020 (was: April)
Galaxy A80 – May 2020 (was: March)
Galaxy A7 2018 – May 2020 (was: April)
Galaxy A9 2018 – May 2020 (was: April)
Galaxy A6 Plus – May 2020 (was: June)
Galaxy J6 Plus – July 2020 (was: June)
Galaxy Tab S6 – May 2020 (was: April)
Galaxy A40 – Available Now (Was: April)
All in all, May now seems to be one of the busiest months for the roll-out of Android 10 to a large number of Samsung phones. The Galaxy A50, Galaxy A20e and A10 are also scheduled to receive the update in that month. But also in April, the upgrade is still expected on a number of devices – think of the Galaxy A70 and Galaxy A6. Thinking of the example of the A40, we would not be surprised if the upgrade will roll out on more devices in April, but in the end that is no more than speculation.
