Synology: DS420 + and DS720 + available now

The new Synology NAS of the Plus series showed up in advance this year, shortly afterwards the four NAS systems for home use were officially launched: the DS920 + and the DS420 + had two 4-bay models in their luggage and two 2- Bay with the DS 720+ and the DS220 +.

In summary, the new lineup can best be described as product maintenance: the company relies on new processors and DDR4 RAM.

The more powerful 2-bay model is available today with the DS720 + and the weaker 4-bay model with the DS420 +. As a small reporter: The DS720 + uses the Intel Celeron 4125 (quad-core) while the DS420 + uses the Celeron J4025 (dual-core). Both models come with two Ethernet ports and the option of installing two M2 SSDs – here we had to report our own SSDs last week. In terms of memory, both models offer 2 gigabytes, but are expandable.

The DS420 + offers a 4-bay counterpart to the DS220 +, while the DS720 + is equipped similarly to the DS920 + only in a 2-bay form factor.
