Synology: The DS220 + is now available
Synology introduced four models from the Plus series, three of which are currently available. Now you complete the quartet: The DS220 + is now also available. There should be no more surprises: The technical data are confirmed by Synology after premature appearance. Significant difference to the predecessor: DDR4 RAM is now used faster in the working memory and the processor is also upgraded – product maintenance.
The DS220 + is the weaker 2-bay counterpart to the new DS720 +. As a 2-bay, you can insert 2 hard disks of 16 TB each, the DS220 + cannot be expanded with appropriate extension bays. There is also no slot for M2 SSDs. Inside, the Intel Celeron J4025 is a dual-core processor with 2.0 GHz clock frequency and 2.9 GHz turbo clock.
When it comes to RAM, the built-in 2 GB DDR4 – the RAM is soldered directly to the onboard – as with the other new models in the Plus series – cannot be replaced. The RAM can still be expanded via a “second” slot: Up to 4 GB in the form of a DDR4 SO-DIMM module can be accommodated here. When it comes to connections, 2 Gigabit Ethernet ports and two USB 3.0 ports are used.
With a price of 285 euros plus VAT, the DS220 + is the cheapest member of the new plus lineup. As with the other models, the NAS can certainly be ordered from first retailers such as Cyberport during the day.
