Synology: This is the RS1221 + with an AMD Ryzen processor
The RackStation form factor of a Synology NAS should probably – especially in terms of price – be an issue for very few readers. Nevertheless, there are always enthusiasts who put such equipment in the basement. Synology has not yet communicated an official market launch, but is already revealing the first details about the successor to the RS1219 + via the domestic Taiwanese website. These are the details of the RS1221 +:
The RS1221 + is a RackStation with 8 hard disk slots. Another 4 plug-in units can be implemented with the corresponding expansion unit (RX418). The equipment – apart from the form factor and the possible slots – is very similar to the DS1821 +. A redundant power supply is also provided for the RP variant. An AMD Ryzen SoC, the V15000B, is installed, which as a quad-core processor offers a clock frequency of 2.2 GHz. It is supported by 4 GB of ECC DDR4 RAM, which can be expanded to up to 32 GB.
Four Gigabit Ethernet as well as two USB 3.0 and eSATA are installed. Using PCIe slot Gen3 x8 slot (x4), for example, SFP + can be retrofitted with 10 Gigabit support. Information on prices and an availability date for the German market are not yet available.
