The NBU tried to explain why PayPal does not come to Ukraine
The launch of PayPal in Ukraine, or more precisely its absence, has been regularly discussed since the end of the last decade. A few months ago, the NBU accused the Polish office of the payment system of deliberately delaying the launch of PayPal in Ukraine. At the same time, the representative of the National Bank, Alexander Bevz, tried to explain why PayPal is not yet active in our country. It turned out he had, frankly, so himself.
The following is the official's quote:
“In my opinion, the problems associated with the entry of PayPal into the Ukrainian market are not a matter of the National Bank's regulatory field. If PayPal wants to contact us, I think it will receive a registration very soon. There are a number of factors that lead to the fact that the company has made a decision for itself not to enter the Ukrainian market. As far as I know, the Cabinet of Ministers is paying great attention to this right now, in particular the Ministry of Digital Transformation has been handling this issue, so we expect that joint efforts will consolidate those problems that could prevent PayPal from entering the Ukrainian market. "
Thus, the representative of the National Bank of Ukraine said almost nothing about the problem. What is a mysterious "number of factors" that prevents PayPal in our country is difficult to say.
Recall that since late summer in Ukraine has been operating Xoom, a subsidiary of PayPal. At the same time, Maxim Nefedov, head of the State Customs Service, said that PayPal was not interesting in the Ukrainian market.
