The Picture-in-Picture function from iOS 14 or a great feature that was damn missing on iPhones

When Apple introduced the new generation of the iOS operating system with serial number 14 to the world last Monday, most of the attention was usurped by widgets in it. This is without a doubt the most visible feature of the system, which can also make the use of the phone very pleasant. However, the longer I use iOS 14, the more another tweak from it comes to the fore – specifically Picture-in-Picture.

At the moment, Picture-in-Picture only runs through Safari, but it is more than likely that various multimedia applications, including YouTube, Twitch and many others, will incorporate it, which will make the usability of the feature even greater. The great thing is that it already runs very reliably and also allows a relatively wide range of playback window adjustments. You can play both with the size according to your taste and with its location. Everything is based on control gestures, which we are used to from other parts of the system, thanks to which controlling Picture in Picture does not pose any problem.

To be honest, the more sophisticated multitasking was something I really wanted from iOS 14, and I'm glad that Apple heard this (not only) my request. At the same time, I hope that Picture in Picture is just the first snippet of the advent of advanced multitasking known from iPads to iPhones. After all, being able to run two applications side by side (not on top of each other, as is the case with Picture in Picture) and working with them to the fullest would not be a problem in today's large displays. For me personally, the introduction of similar functions would be a reason to purchase the Max model, which would be for similar use thanks to the large display as created. Let's hope that Apple will really go in a similar direction and please its users in the autumn with the introduction of a small window revolution in the system.
