Tronsmart Apollo Bold ANC TWS earbuds review-Impressive sound quality
From the day that Apple annouced its first generation Airpods, TWS(what is TWS?) earphones had been trending around the world. More and more brands are releasing their TWS products, including Tronsmart. This time I luckily received their newest ANC TWS earbuds Tronsmart Apollo Bold for review. So is it good? Let’s check it out Tronsmart Apollo Bold ANC TWS earbuds review-Impressive sound quality。
Unboxing
Tronsmart Apollo Bold comes with a really big box compared with Airpod Pro. The big box provides a safer protection against the damage in shipping. The design style is completely different with Airpods, with a lot of words and images on the box.
Looking closer, I am really amazed to see ’35dB’ noise cancelation printed on the box provided by Qualcomm OCC5124 chip. You should know Airpods Pro only has around 32dB noise cancelation ability. So how about the real experience of the noise cancelling on Apollo Bold? I will show below.
What’s in the box
Tronsmart Apollo Bold comes with a charging box, a pair of earbuds, a quick start guide, a warranty card, two pairs of extra ear muffs and a USB type-C charging cable. Nothing is special but nothing missing.
Appearance
Charging box
Tronsmart Apollo Bold charging box has a rounded design. The size is just like Huawei Freebuds 3 but it is much thicker. The matte pattern on the charging box makes it looks gorgeous.
Opening the charging box and you can see the earbuds lying gentlely. I have to say the cap of the charging box is way too light. It makes the charging box feel not so compact. However I can definitely live with it because all in all it is only a charging box.
There is an indicator light on the front and a USB type-C charging port on the box, without any physical button, very neat design.
Earbuds
The earbuds of Apollo Bold have an irregular round design, with special dark golden rings around the touch panel. I think it would be better if the charging box has the same design.
Almost all the sensors are on the another side of the earbuds, including in-ear sensors, micphones and charging pins.
Experience
Pairing process
The pairing process is a little different with AirPods pro. You need to pair each earbud one by one. You will be notified to pair another earbud when you have paired one. The total process is very easy and fast. When the pair process is done, you can check the battery info in the status bar on your phone.
Sound quality
As you may have noticed, Apollo Bold support aptX coding(what is aptX?), which can provde high quality music experience. The experience is just as my expectation, the sound quality is really impressive. The high frequency is crispy and clear and the bass is hitting hard. There is almost no current sound as I found in many TWS earbuds, making the sound really pure. I fell in love with the sound quality of Apollo Bold immediately when I just have used it for 3 minutes. It is much better than my AirPods Pro with almost triple price.
Touch panel
Tronsmart provides really rich functions on the touch panel of Apollo Bold. You can easily control the volume, switch songs and switch the ANC/ambient modes with the touch gestures. However, in the real experience, it is easy to cause false control with the touch panel. Hope Tronsmart can improve the logic of the touch control in the future.
Active noise cancelation
As mentioned in the start, Apollo Bold has ’35dB’ noise cancelation stated on the box. So I really can’t wait to test this feature compared with my AirPods Pro. Triple press the touch panel of the earbuds, there is a female sound ‘noise cancelation on’ to indicate you that the ANC feature is activated. I can feel the environment sound suddenly disappeared, and you can hardly feel any ear pressure.
But to my dissappointment, I can still hear my girlfriend talking when the ANC is on. When wearing AirPods Pro, I can hardly hear my girlfriend talking. So I bet the noise cancelation is weaker than 32dB. But it is still acceptable.
Ambient mode
Just like AirPods Pro, Apollo Bold has an ambient to make it possible to hear the environmental sound clearly when wearing the earbuds. Triple press the touch panel again, with the female sound ‘ambient mode on’, I feel I have taken the earbuds off and hear clearly everything. And the experience is much better than the ambient mode on AirPods Pro, which is much beyond my expectation.
What’s more
Apollo Bold also has the in-ear detection feature. This feature is very important for earbuds you use in daily life. The music will automatically pause when you take the earbuds off and automatically on when you wear it, very convenient.
Besides, as shown in Tronsmart official website, there will be an App specially design for Apollo Bold, please stay turned.
The verdict
Although Tronsmart is a little creepy in the charging box cap, it is still an excellent TWS product overall. The sound quality is impressive and it makes listening to music with TWS earbuds a real joy. The noise cancelation is acceptable and the ambient mode is much beyond the expectation. Not to mention it even has the in-ear detection, which makes it really useful in daily life. What else can I expect for a $99 TWS product? It is just worth your each cent!
