Updates: Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and Tab S5e get minor update again

Samsung is now rolling out the second update this month to the Galaxy Note 9. In addition, the Galaxy Tab S5e also gets a small, but meaningful bug fix update that fixes some problems after the Android 10 upgrade.

Galaxy Note 9: minor extra update

Less than two weeks ago, the Galaxy Note 9 received the July security update. Then we already reported that this is probably the first of two updates that will come to the device this month. And indeed: the second arrives now, in the form of firmware version N960FXXU6ETG3.

The 112MB major update initially creates confusion. The changelog shown is that of the upgrade to One UI 2.1, which got the Note 9 at the end of June. That's a mistake, of course – but it doesn't answer the question of what today's update does. Presumably, it is about smoothing out any bugs after this One UI 2.1 update, but we are not going to know any details. Have you installed the update, and are you aware of the changes or bug fixes? Let us know below!

The update for the Note 9 is now immediately OTA available on unbranded devices in the Netherlands and Belgium, and on branded devices from Vodafone. Only with a T-Mobile device you have to wait and see. As always, you will automatically receive a notification when the update is ready for your device – or you can manually check the availability via Settings -> Software update -> Download and install.

Galaxy Tab S5e update fixes Wi-Fi bug

A few weeks ago, the big Android 10 update for the Galaxy Tab S5e finally became available. It turned out – at least in some cases and situations – to cause rather poor Wi-Fi reception. That is why the tablet now receives an update again, so quickly.

A 117MB large download brings firmware version T720XXU1BTG3, with a concise changelist: Wi-Fi connection and stability have been improved. And that seems to cover the load well. Problems with the Wi-Fi connection that surfaced after the Android 10 upgrade have disappeared after the new update.

The update is now available for the Galaxy Tab S5e with Wi-Fi (SM-T720) and for the 4G version (SM-T725) in the Netherlands and Belgium.

(Thanks, Erik, Willem!)
